STATEN ISLAND N.Y. – Ending the Forth of July with a bang… literally.

After a day full of giveaways, parties, and shopping, Empire Outlets in St. George concluded the night with a spectacular firework show.

More than a thousand people turned out to watch as fireworks lit up the sky over the New York Harbor.

It capped a day of festivities that kicked off at 8 a.m. when Nordstrom Rack rewarded 20 shoppers with a $100 Nordstrom Rack gift card, with one lucky winner receiving a $1,000 gift card to celebrate the stores grand opening.

Food trucks, crafts and live music filled the grounds of the shopping mall, with various activities leading up to the firework display at 9 p.m.

The New York City skyline served as a backdrop for this waterfront event.

“Empire Outlets has always been dedicated to giving visitors an experience that they simply cannot get anywhere else,” said Joseph Ferrara, principal of BFC Partners and developer of Empire Outlets.
